This glaze was inspired by growing up in South Africa. I have glazed this platter with multiple layers of glaze to create a very tactile surface that is reminiscent of dry desert earth like that of the Kalahari Desert.  This platter can be used for food, but must be washed with a bristle brush to ensure all the food is out from between the cracks.

This platter can be used decoratively too, it can be displayed on a  coffee table, placed up right on a plate stand and displayed on a shelf or wall unit.
