The Africa Modern Collection has a rustic modern feel. The exterior of all items in this collection have a matte finish and glossy interior finish. I have carved through the black glaze, a technique called sgraffito, this is a pottery technique where potters put a layer of glaze or slip on a piece of pottery, let it dry, then use a pottery carving tool to scratch at it to show the base layer of color. Sgraffito derives from an Italian word meaning “to scratch”.
This vase looks good with or without flowers, also being ceramic one will not notice dirty water in the vase.
